The Importance of Goal-Setting

While we tend to stress hard-work, discipline and testing, testing, testing in practically every post here at the Affiliate University, something we’ve yet to really touch on is what you should do once you start making some money as an affiliate marketer. It’s truly difficult to stay motivated — never mind change with the industry and know when to jump ship from a — until that point — tremendously successful campaign.

One of the most effective ways to stay on track both in the long and short-terms is mapping out your goals. If you’re going to do so, indeed the best method is to map out daily, weekly, monthly and even yearly goals. You can take it a step further and even put down some ridiculously long-term goals like a decade down the road, but really you just need to map out daily, weekly and/or monthly and yearly goals.

A Journey in Split-testing: Colors

If you think about it, colors are an integral part of our everyday lives — even if we don’t tend to think about it very often. There’s also been many-a-study dedicated to the overall theory that certain color combinations give us certain feelings or urges — especially when buying things. Or subscribing to things. Or signing-up for things.

If you’ve ever had to tweak Adsense ads in order to gain a higher flow of income, then you know that a simple color change or tweak can have a world of difference in regards to how much money you pull in. Usually, colors that compliment or blend in with the themes and colors around them — at least in regards to the Internet — do the best in regards to CTR percentages and what-not.

With this in mind, think of how much you can tweak your landing pages using this method. Even if it’s a simple split-test like using a different overall background or something a bit more direct such as changing the link colors, you’d do very well to try out different things.

If you’re a frequent reader of the Envyus Media Affiliate University (and quite honestly, why wouldn’t you be?) then you know that we like to preach split-test, split-test, split-test wherever and whenever possible. And this is no different.

Something so simple can drastically increase your affiliate income — you just have to be willing to put the work in that requires split-testing various colors and other things necessary.

You can even take a look at it all from a psychological perspective. If you’re sending people to a landing page whose sole goal is to send them further on to a teeth whitening offer, do you really think yellow or red is the best overall color scheme to go with? Uh, no. That would be straight-up disastrous. Try and think along these lines in addition to trying to compliment and blend in with your sites overall design and you’ll do well.

Or at least, you’ll do much better than you have been doing. Just don’t be afraid to do the work — you’re not going to become a successful, consistently profitable affiliate by sitting around on your ass and avoiding work at all costs. But you already knew this, didn’t you?

Ad Copy Word of the Week: Conscientious

Possessing a broad and diverse vocabulary is indeed beneficial to online marketing in many obvious ways. But it’s especially beneficial to your ad copy creation. And since your campaigns all literally begin and end with ad copy, it would likely be a good idea for you to work out your lexicon muscles every now and again so that you’ll have a vast plethora of different words to utilize during any conceivable ad copy creation situation.

And yes, I realize that was some Dr. Seuss-caliber vocabulary craftsmanship right there. Thank you.

Got the Direct Track Blues?

As you surely already know, the infamous tracking platform Direct Track (aka arguably the worst such platform in the history of the universe) has been down for the last 24 hours or so. How that actually happens and how many networks are currently running it I cannot honestly say. Mainly because I don’t really care very much.

Anyway, if you find that you’re currently running some lucrative — or even not-really-that-lucrative-but-still-making-some-semblance-of-money — on a Direct Track network’s platform, then I’ve got good news for you! Envyus Media runs the equally-infamous tracking platform Cake (aka arguably the greatest such platform in the history of the universe). Odds are, we’ve also got the offer you were previously running at the aforementioned network as well. Because we’re wicked cool like that, yo!

And not only this, but we’re also totally up for securing your traffic on said offer in the long-run in the form of some good old-fashioned payout bumps! So seriously, if you’ve got traffic anywhere else that’s currently set to pause (=(), go ahead and hit up your Affiliate Manager and start running it on a real tracking platform. Or go ahead and sign-up with us if you’re one of the 14 total affiliates who haven’t done so yet by clicking right HERE.

Do work and have a safe yet awesomely-magical weekend!

The Drive To Succeed

For anyone whose known a multitude of different people from different, varying cultures and such, it’s common knowledge that we’re all different in our drive to succeed. And to go even further, even our perception of success is different.

For the most part, the people who stick around in the affiliate marketing industry have an intensely strong and consistent desire for success. Indeed, this type of affiliate is what makes the industry go round. Granted, we all have our different reasons for why we push ourselves to the limits of success, but the overall concept is the same.

There’s a famous quote — of which, at the moment, I can not attribute to an actual source/person. But it’s poignant and topical to our discussion at hand. Not to mention a potential spark for the fierce and vehement drive that is sometimes necessary to succeed in this industry.

To paraphrase:

“I work 80 hours a week so I don’t have to work 40 hours for anyone else.”

As an affiliate, you would do well to have this core value system as your own pillars of support. Honestly, if you don’t have this type of drive and perspective on your entire online venture, you’re never going to make it. The stronger the desire to succeed, the stronger the desire to prove every single frigging doubter you’ve ever had in your entire life wrong.

And to go even further — not just prove them wrong, but succeed and excel to the point to which if you ever met them in person again, they’d be straight-up embarrassed to even look at you.

Don’t just think this type of drive goes for affiliates either, as it’s inherently a part of every single bell and whistle of the Envyus Media affiliate network. Don’t take us seriously? That’s fine. But just know, that such judgement is folly when the drive and fire behind the powers behind the scenes could light a thousand fires.

We don’t play around here at Envyus Media. And if you think this describes you as an affiliate, then please feel free to join-up. We’ll be very grateful to have you.
