Marketing Word of the Week: Tangible
Possessing a broad and diverse vocabulary is beneficial in a large array of different ways. In regards to affiliate marketing — even if you outsource your content work to a freelancer — you never know when you’re going to need to bust out synonyms or witty adjectives for various aspects of your campaign. Never even mind how much a vast vocabularly can help you in regards to split-testing different ads.
Keeping all of this in mind, I hereby present to you the Envyus Media Affiliate University’s Word of the Week feature! Broaden your mind and expand your subconscious thesaurus! And yes, I realize that last part doesn’t really make too much sense…
Today’s word of the day — per the wonderful and ridiculously useful Thesaurus.com:
Tangible (adj.)
Meaning: Real, concrete
Synonyms: Definite, detectable, discernible, evident, manifest, palpable
Antonyms: Abstract, conceptual, intangible
Used in a marketing-minded sentence: “There exists extensive tangible evidence that purchasing this product will enrich your day-to-day life.”
When trying to win someone’s trust to purchase, subscribe or sign-up for whatever it is that you’re selling, you must come from a position of authority. Ideally, you not only need to sound like you know what you’re talking about, but you also need to sound well-educated and that you can be trusted and held accountable. The word tangible is just one of a thousand different words that can be used to further amplify and enhance your sales pitch.
Which of the following two sentences sounds more authoritative:
“It’s common knowledge that buying this product will improve your day-to-day life.”
“There exists extensive tangible evidence that purchasing this product will enrich your day-to-day life.”
This is less of a case for you to specifically use the word tangible in your marketing endeavors as it is for the reasons why broadening your vocabularly is a worthy time investment. To use last week’s marketing word of the week (and one of my personal favorite words of all time), it would strongly behoove you to take this advice to heart.
