The Importance of Time Management in Affiliate Marketing
Managing one’s time is arguably one of the most difficult things a successful affiliate marketer must do each day. It takes a lot of self-discipline and management in order to make the most of your workday, but there are things that can be done to maximize your effectiveness. While it may sound like common sense, actually mapping out what you’re doing from hour-to-hour can not only boost your production, it can also help you prevent burnout.
Burning out is one of the biggest pitfalls for both new and experienced affiliate marketers alike. Usually, affiliates are at risk for burnout right after they’ve first experienced success within the industry and thus, want to ensure further sustained success any way that they can.
First-off, setting how many hours you want to work each day is key. Some affiliates put in the default eight hours of work, but somewhere in the realm of ten is more recommended and realistic. After deciding upon how many hours you’re going to be clocking in each day (not every day, mind you, but we’ll talk about that more in a bit), you then need to map out and/or break up what all of this time will entail specifically.
In order to help prevent against procrastination and distractions, it’s an excellent idea to factor in an hour or two throughout your day for breaks and what-not. Many affiliates like to schedule an hour in the morning — right before they get to work for the day — in order for them to check their personal e-mail and brush up on industry and world news. Regardless of what you’d like to check or use this first hour on, it’s a great idea to factor it in — in addition to another hour, perhaps in the middle of your day that you can use to take a break and do non-industry related things for a short while.
At the very least, you’re going to want to take at least one day off a week. It’s also important to remember that the more hours you work each day, the more days off you can afford to take off each week. If you’re only working 6-8 hour days, it’s highly recommended that you take no more than one day off a week — if that. However if you’re putting in 10-12 hours per day — which is about the average for truly successful affiliates these days — then you’re definitely in a much better position to take two days off a week in lieu of one.
Then again, if you’re truly willing to put in 12 hours a day into affiliate marketing, you’re likely the type of person whose not even going to be able to take two days off a week.
In the end, just remember that your affiliate marketing success is going to be a direct result of just how much you work your ass off. It’s not easy, but once you become successful it almost becomes addicting to put the work in necessary to prolong such success.
You can do this — of this there’s no doubt. With Envyus Media on your side and the work-ethic to put in at least 10 work hours per day, the sky is really the limit in regards to your affiliate marketing career.
Good luck!
